PROJECTION OF OUR IMMEDIATE & FUTURE PLANS

Phase I - Procurement of Land

Presently, the orphanage is running on a rented house and thus a major amount of funds have to be spent annually for the payment of the house rent. Similarly this rented house can be sold anytime by the house owner with a short notice. Thus the main and furthermost requirement for the orphanage currently is procurement of a land and then construction of a house where the orphans can dwell with full safety and security in long run. Hence under this phase a small piece of land will be procured in the outskirt of Kathmandu with easy access to hospital and school and with good facility of water and sanitation. The English College, Dubai has been instrumental in raising the funds to procure the land.

Phase II - Construction of Orphanage Building

It has been a dream plan for Mission Himalaya finally coming to a positive mark .This plan of starting a "Homeless Children's Eco Farm" with a nice house will comprise of separate girls and boys bed rooms, a large study room, spacious dining, spacious kitchen and store, a nice balcony / terrace, clean bathrooms with solar heated hot water showers, a dispensary, staff quarters, a playground, a small organic vegetable garden at a corner, etc., supported by Gulf 4 Good and other donors.

This new orphanage building will be coordinated by Mission Himalaya as "Homeless Children's Eco Farm" and be operated with NYCDS as the resident orphanage consisting initially of 40 kids and later up to 60 kids in 4~5 years period . This will be a model project

Phase III - Homeless Children’s Eco Farm

A small farm house will be developed next to the orphanage house where seasonal organic vegetables and fruits will be planted. Growing a vegetable garden with children will be a learning experience for the orphans – especially it will give them a chance to enroll with nature and fulfill the need of the orphanage for vegetables and fruits which will ultimately help to save the expenditure on skyrocketing price of vegetables in Kathmandu. Kids working themselves to plough and plant in the eco farm will bring a different perspective and add positive gardening adventures. Their presence in the garden will be sporadic, but it can still be much anticipated and enjoyed. Vegetables and kids growing together will open the gates of a new beginning where they can relate life and experience. Mini-lessons on botany delivered in the garden can have a greater impact than lessons learned in school. The entire farm will be looked after by Mission Himalaya and other donors wanting to help.

Phase IV- Expansion of the Building

If everything goes as planned above and if the donors, sponsors and well wishers continue to support we will acquire more land proximate to the building and extend the property to increase the capacity of housing more children. We will expand the floors of the building with more rooms and above it a large terrace enough for Solar panels on the top for water heating system will be planted so the children can get warm water to bathe with in the winter seasons as in winter it is quite cold here in Kathmandu. Similarly we will also have 2-3 volunteer rooms constructed on the terrace which could be used only used by volunteers who would be will to stay and carry out voluntary activities for a longer period in the orphanage.

Also we intend to build a Multipurpose Hall (capacity of accommodation 100 ~ 150 pax) at one end of the land which will serve as a study hall cum indoor playground for the kids with a badminton court and a half basketball court. Also an elevated stage will be build at one end where the children's can portray their arts, talents, organize theater activities and programs during various occasions such as festivals, sponsor’s visit, annual programs etc.
